Sooooo, my background is a little unusual for a therapist.

Hi! I'm Ashley, and before my counseling career I was a Kitchen and Bath Designer...yep! I enjoyed what I did for years and had gotten to be pretty darn good at it! I loved working with people, I was creative and was also a critical thinker and great problem solver when it came to design. But after 15 years I wanted to be able to make more of an impact and do something more meaningful for the rest of my life. I had also gone through my own experience of being on the other side of the chair and had seen firsthand how a therapeutic relationship can change someone's life. I finally decided to go back to school and got a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from NC A&T State University with a Certificate in Behavioral Addictions.

I specialize in providing support and guidance to those individuals who are struggling with substance use and addictions or those who are simply questioning their relationship with alcohol or drugs. Although my specialty is working with substance use disorder, I also have a passion for working with clients presenting with other concerns such as anxiety, depression, and spiritual/faith concerns.
Life can be tough, and through seeking relief, maybe you've turned to unhealthy coping skills such as drinking, avoidance, isolation, or maybe having a good scream while driving. While these may provide some temporary comfort, they do not alleviate your struggles. Perhaps you are in recovery but despite your great effort of attending meetings, getting a sponsor, and working the steps, those overwhelming feelings of worthlessness, fear, and anxiety continue to persist. Or perhaps you know you are drinking or using too much, yet when you promise yourself you are going to stop, there is always that next time. Then the guilt comes. Along with the shame.

Y’all. I get it, I’ve been there. And I’m here to tell you that there is a way out. A way back to yourself and the life you deserve. I want this for you! Together we can work towards understanding the wounds that lie within you, develop healthy coping strategies, and cultivate a stronger sense of self-worth. We will explore and uncover your inner light, allowing it to shine and positively impact the world around you.
