My Approach

I am a dually Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA NC #A18027) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS-28293). I use a person-centered approach which means that I believe that the relationship is the biggest agency of change. In my work with clients, we begin by building a strong relationship and developing a space for you to explore those intrusive thoughts, anxious worries, internal dialogue, as well as those unhealthy relationships with substances.

I use humor and a relaxed approach that allows you to have a space where you can simply, be you. I believe through a therapeutic and safe relationship, you will have the ability to work through past and current struggles so that you will be able to once again shine as your true and authentic self. Together we can work on managing the stressors in your life by developing healthy coping strategies and cultivating a stronger sense of self-worth instead of turning to a bottle or a pill.

One theory or approach does not fit all, but I frequently utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing with my clients. While we cannot control the pain that comes our way, we have the power to choose how we respond to it. Instead of avoiding or suppressing our pain, we can choose to face it head-on and respond in a healthy and productive manner. By embracing our pain and allowing ourselves to fully experience it, we can learn valuable lessons, grow stronger, and gain a deeper understanding of ourselves.
